How scoring works
You earn points for every hacker stopped, with a bonus for each wave cleared that grows with the wave number. Wave one alone sends 85 attackers, so a long run is worth far more than a lucky start. Your run also feeds your privacy progress: starting a game and clearing a wave both earn XP toward your level and daily streak.
We check submissions for physical plausibility and rate limit them per network, but a browser game can never be fully cheat-proof and we would rather say so than imply otherwise.

How do I get on the leaderboard?
Play Hacker Siege using the launcher on any page of the site. When a run ends you can enter a display name and submit the score. Submitting is optional and needs no account.
Can people cheat these scores?
Yes, in principle. The game runs in your browser, which means a determined person can always alter what their own browser reports. We reject submissions that are physically impossible — more kills than the run duration allows, waves cleared without the kills to match, or a score higher than the kills and waves could produce — and we rate limit submissions per network. Treat this as a scoreboard for fun rather than a competitive ladder, because that is what it honestly is.
When does the weekly board reset?
The weekly board is bucketed by ISO week and rolls over at the start of Monday UTC. The all-time board keeps every run.
What personal data is stored with my score?
The display name you type, the run statistics, and a coarse network prefix used only for rate limiting. No account, no email, and no cookie identifier is attached to a score.
